Our History
Bethel Lutheran Community was founded in the late 1950s by 21 Lutheran congregations that saw a growing need for living options for seniors. Now, more than 60 years later, Bethel has evolved into a continuum of care facility with living options that fit each individual, regardless of the stage of life.
Our campus
The Bethel Community is on Egan Avenue on the south edge of Madison, S.D. Our facilities are surrounded by farmland to the west and the 4-H grounds to the east, offering pastoral views in a quiet retreat-like setting for residents. Our location provides convenient access to shopping, churches, and health care.
Our Mission
Serving Christ through caring service
At Bethel, we are committed to leading the way by providing a Christ-centered continuum of care, contributing to the best possible quality of life in an ever-changing society.
Although we were founded by and are sponsored by Lutheran congregations throughout the region, we welcome all residents regardless of their faith background.
Ultimately, we want to provide a home where people can age in place, having their needs met even if their level of care changes.
