Our Team
Those who choose to work at Bethel truly value others over self, and they feel called to serve in this community setting.
Wockenfuss Joins Bethel Community
Gene Wockenfuss has accepted the role of Interim Administrator. Gene will begin with limited hours on March 6, with his first official day in the office on March 17. He will continue in an interim role while the search for a permanent administrator is conducted by Bethel’s Governing Board of Directors.
Gene is well known to Madison and the surrounding area. He attended Dakota State University on a football scholarship, returning to DSU in 2002 as Head Football Coach and later assuming the role of Athletic Director. During his time at DSU, Gene prioritized community outreach for his team and for himself, including spending volunteer hours at Bethel visiting with residents.
Gene left DSU after 10 years to pursue a career of service in the field of senior living and has spent the intervening years serving in the executive director role at senior communities in Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Texas and Nebraska.
Throughout his career, Gene has maintained strong ties to Madison. He served as director for the Madison Community Center, was active on committees for the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce and was involved with area service clubs.
Gene and his wife Callie live in Wentworth. Callie owns Real Estate Retrievers and is a recognized leader in the real estate industry.
